The '''Shimoni Marine Wildlife Destination''' is a project within the [[Tourism]] theme. It is a proposal from the Pwani 2050 plan to market the waters off Shimoni in [[Kwale County]], around the Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park and Reserve, as a world-class marine wildlife and diving destination. Kisite-Mpunguti lies off Shimoni near the Tanzanian border. The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) says it was established in 1973 and gazetted in 1978, and is made up of Kisite Marine National Park, a 28 km² no-take zone, and Mpunguti Marine National Reserve, 11 km², where controlled artisanal fishing and low-impact tourism are allowed.
